All the oak was given two coats of a water-based satin varnish.
The handrails and newel caps were given three.

All wrapped up to prevent paint spray.

Walls lined with 1700 grade.

Wall colour Little Greene 'Mono'.

Wallpaper was the householders choice from Next.

Before:

After Shaun, my carpenter mate had been and ripped out the staircase, taken off the doors downstairs and replaced them with oak, he then installed new stair furniture.

I then stripped the walls of paper.

As no plastering under the units had taken place it was up to us to use filler quite extensively on this modest kitchen project.

I was really quite proud of the finish. It's annoying I have no photos to show you.
Little Greene 'Tracery ii' was the colour. It really set the worktop and brushed aluminium off.

535_September Highlights

Repainting the doors, skirts & architraves in oil based gloss.

It included removing the spring loaded door closers and making good.
No photos I'm afraid.

The dining room was being painted in Little Greene 'Mono'.
It looked really good - sorry I forgot to take photos.

Paint peel on bathroom ceilings happens a lot. My theory is that it happens when it is originally being painted. Because there can be so little air-flow in a shower cubicle drying time can be very slow indeed.

After good preparation and the covering of the first coat I make sure it is all nicely dry with a hair-dryer or an electric paint stripper on a low heat (holding it about a foot away from the surface - obviously)

I forgot to take finish photos.

The exterior walls were still looking the worse for wear from the Halloween festivities.

Also front door and garage doors were to be repainted.

533_July Highlights

The previous decorator had painted the woodwork with what I can only describe as liquid chewing gum dipped in sawdust. I used my vac-assisted sander to very good effect.

Sorry for not taking completed shots.

531_May Highlights

A very nasty water stain on a bedroom ceiling in Shenfield.
With some shellac based stain blocker after rubbing back the salty deposits the stain did not come back.

Needless to say I re-painted the ceiling, walls, architrave, sills & skirting.
